About the Artist:
"All art is autobiographical. The pearl is the oyster's autobiography." - Federico Fellini
My photography tends to be autobiographical in that whatever else I am doing, I'll usually point my camera at, but I try to do it a little differently by using a Holga camera, instead of more traditional camera.
Holgas are often thought of as "toy cameras" that use film and are very basic, quirky cameras that I enjoy using because of the challenge it takes to producing interesting and compelling photographs; I primarily use black and white film that adds a certain retro and dream like quality to my photographs as well.
When I get into something, like I have with motorcycles and fly fishing, I tend to dream about doing these activities and will try and recreate my dreams or just want to create retro photographs of these activities that are in my mind timeless.
I served in the Utah National Guard, started in the Air from 1988 to 1999 and transferred to the Army from 1999-2009, while my time in the Air Force was the foundation of my service, I feel that I got more out of the Army where my main and most fulfilling MOS was a 42A HR Sergeant, primarily because of what I did when I was mobilized on active duty, with a Community Based Warrior Transition Unit, helping wounded Guard and Reserve Soldiers go through the medical board process or get better and return to their units, it was most humbling job I have ever had and have many wonderful memories from that time.
Check out my recently published photography book, Harleys and Holgas Forever.
