About the Artist:
I was born in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains in the Southern tier of New York state where I found my love of the outdoors. That love continued to nurture as I grew through boy scouts. My love of nature found visual expression in my early drawing. I joined the Navy upon graduating from high school and went into the nuclear power program ultimately being stationed on the USS Enterprise and in the Viet Nam conflict. Having survived that and getting married I went on to college in liberal arts. Following that I was in Philadelphia getting an MFA in sculpture
With all those degrees, I was able to teach college lever and continued to follow my passion in art. I was never very interested in making art to sell but sought the joy in the journey of creating art. It is wonderful when someone is interested enough to purchase my work and it allows me to buy more art supplies. I retired from fulltime teaching giving me time for drawing a series a landscapes and creating figurative and imaginative sculpture in epoxy clay and large sculpture with DIY papier mâché clay.
