About the Artist:
For Sp8, art is a language beyond words—a raw, unfiltered expression of survival, memory, and transformation. As an MST survivor and advocate for women veterans, she creates from a place of deep emotion, allowing her experiences to take form on the canvas without hesitation or restraint. Every piece is a reflection of what was, what is, and what still lingers beneath the surface.\nHer process is purely intuitive—no sketches, no plans, just an open dialogue between emotion and medium. The black silhouettes, the abstract figures, the chaotic yet deliberate strokes—they all hold stories too heavy for words, yet too powerful to remain unseen.\nBeing part of the Veterans Art Institute isn’t just about exhibiting my work—it’s about connection. It’s about standing with others who use creativity to make sense of their experiences, to express what words can’t. My art is more than paint on canvas; it’s a reflection of resilience, identity, and the shared human experience of finding meaning in what we’ve lived through.
